Welcome to The Center of the World
The New Troy Community Center is run by the community, for the community, and is supported entirely through memberships, donations, fundraisers, and rentals. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that receives no government funding.
Stop in, and you might join a pickleball game, take a yoga class, bring your pre-schooler to Story Hour, enjoy our monthly Gather & events, or visit the Activities Room. Our grounds provide a popular sledding hill, playground, demonstration rain garden, nature trail, and ever-growing flower garden. Wedding vows are exchanged in our gazebo. Milestone events are celebrated in our Community Room.

How did all this come to be? In 2005, a group of residents took a giant leap of faith and organized a fundraiser. The goal was to buy the property formerly occupied by the New Troy School. The town’s sense of community had been lost when the school closed and we wanted it back.
The support has been awesome. Our membership swelled as more and more people committed to the vision and worked to make it happen. We’ve held many fundraisers and will hold many more.
We’re proud to say that in 2018, we paid off the mortgage. Since that milestone, we have shifted attention towards improving the building. In 2020, we upgraded and renovated all of the restrooms throughout the building. Everything was converted from elementary school-sized to ADA-accessible and adult-sized. In 2023, we completely renovated our Meeting Room, Activities Room, and a half classroom for private rental. Fundraising will go on because improvements still need to be made, programs and classes still need to be developed, and the building and property still need to be maintained.

In addition, Friends of New Troy offers programming and services to the public, such as: six days a week access to the Activities Room, monthly Gather & events, Wiggles & Giggles Story Hour, the Little Free Pantry, hosting Feeding America's mobile food pantries, Pickleball Mondays, open gym opportunities. There are also our annual events of The Strawberry Social (generously provided by the family of Allan Boyd), The Run to The Center of the World 5k, and Santa Comes to Town. The majority of these events are offered free to the public and all are welcome to participate.
The Community Center is home to several small businesses. They operate out of our Community Room and private offices throughout the building. Our long-term renters ensure that the daily costs of operating the building are covered, which is a tremendous service to our community and volunteers!
Today, the center is alive with activity. Neighbors are meeting neighbors. Old friendships are being renewed and new friendships are being formed. If you haven’t joined us yet, come see what you’ve been missing.
